Re-published vide Punjab Government Notification No. G.S.R-124/PA-I/14/S-58(1) and CAI/1878/S.5/62 dated 4th August\nhl193\nRevenue Department Excise and Taxation\nNo. GSR-124/PA-I/14/S-58(1) and CAI/1878/S.5/62.\n- The following Rules, as amended up to the 1st January, 1962, are republished below for general information :-\nThese rules may be cited as \"Excise Barriers\".\nExcise Barriers\n1.\nThe Excise Commissioners Punjab may establish excise outposts at such places as he may think fit; on any road or at any ferry, for the prevention of the smuggling of intoxicants or opium, and may depute, Excise Inspectors to be incharge of such outposts.\n2.\nThe driver of any vehicle or laden animal arriving at any excise post shall his vehicle or animal on arrival at the outpost until the excise officer has conducted his search. The excise officer shall proceed with the search forth-with.\n3.\nThe excise officer incharge of the outpost shall permit the vehicle or animal to proceed unless he has reason to exercise any of his powers of search under Section 47 of the Punjab Excise Act 1 of 1914, or Section 15 of the Opium Act 1 of 1878.\n4.\nComplaints of wrongful detention may be recorded in a book kept for the purpose. The book will be submitted to the District Magistrate at the end of each month for his inspection.",
