Whereas it is expedient to amend the Dibrugarh University Act, 1965, hereinafter called the principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing;\n\nIt is hereby enacted in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows :-",

In Section 10 of the principal Act,-\r\n(1) for sub-section (1), the following shall be substituted, namely :-\r\n\"(1) The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Chancellor from a panel of three persons nominated by a Committee, constituted in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2).\";\r\n(2) for sub-section (2), the following shall be substituted, namely :-\r\n\"(2) For the purpose of sub-section (1), the Committee shall consist of three members, one specified by the Chancellor, one specified by the Executive Council, and one specified by the State Government. The Chancellor shall appoint one of them as the Chairman of the Committee.\";\r\n(3) in sub-section (3), for the words \"six years\", the words \"three years\" shall be substituted;\r\n(4) for sub-section (5), the following shall be substituted, namely :-\r\n\"(5) The Vice-Chancellor shall be a whole-time officer of the University and shall receive such salary and allowances as may be determined by the Chancellor.\";\r\n(5) in sub-section (6), the word \"other\" occurring between the words \"any\" and \"remuneration\" shall be deleted;\r\n(6) for sub-section (7), the following shall be substituted, namely :-\r\n\"(7) In the event of a temporary vacancy in the office of the Vice-Chancellor by reason of leave, illness or other causes, the Chancellor shall make such arrangements for carrying out the duties of the Vice-Chancellor, as he may deem fit.\";\r\n(7) sub-sections (8) and (9) shall be deleted.",
