            "content": "(a) \"Board\" means the Bihar School Examination Board established under Section 3;\n(b) \"Chairman\" means the Chairman of the Board;\n(c) \"Examination Fund\" means the Bihar Examination Fund established under Section 11;\n[(d) \"High School\" means a school having establishment permission or a recognized school or department of a recognised school imparting instructions in secondary education and recognised as such.]\n(e) \"prescribed\" means prescribed by rules made by the State Government or by regulation made by the Board under this Act;\n(f) \"regulation\" means a regulation made by the Board under this Act; and\n(g) \"Secretary\" means the Secretary to the Board;\n[(h) \"Non-Governmental Organisation\" means any organisation or institution or society or trust or any other body with any such name and registered under Society Registration Act, 1860 or created under Indian Trusts Act, 1882 or registered under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 for educational and social purposes.\n(i) \"Secondary School\" means a school imparting education of courses up to grade 10 as prescribed by the Board.\n(j) \"Senior Secondary School\" means a school imparting education of courses up to grade 12 as prescribed by the Board, and includes institutions of Intermediate (+2) Education, duly recognised under Section 39 of the Bihar Intermediate Education Council Act, 1992.\n(k) 'Government' means Government of State of Bihar.]\nChapter II\nThe Bihar School Examination Board",

            "content": "(a) shall, in consultation with the Committees of Courses for different subjects constituted under Section 7, prepare lists of persons suitable for appointment as paper-setters, moderators, examiners, tabulators, supervisors and invigilators for examinations shall make such appointment;\n(b) shall consider, moderate, determine and publish the results of examinations and award diplomas, certificates, prizes and scholarships in respect thereof;\n(c) shall admit candidates to its examination and may disqualify any candidates for presenting themselves for such examination for any reason which the Board considers to be adequate;\n(d) shall demand and receive such fees as may be prescribed in the regulations;\n(e) shall fix centres for such examinations;\n(f) [ x x x ]\n[(g) shall watch standards of craft attainments in [Secondary School or Senior Secondary Schools] ;]\n(h) shall evolve improved methods of the assessment of the attainments of candidates and carry out experiments in such methods;\n(i) shall take such disciplinary action as it thinks fit against students studying in High Schools for reasons of misconduct;\n(j) shall arrange regular inspection of [Secondary School or Senior Secondary Schools] with a view to ascertain that the prescribed academic and vocational standards are being properly maintained; and\n(k) shall conduct such other departmental examinations and perform such other duties as may be prescribed.\n(a) shall prepare lists of persons suitable for appointment as paper-setters, moderators, examiners, tabulators, supervisors and invigilators for examinations and shall make appointment as such;\n(b) shall admit candidates to its examination and may disqualify any candidates for presenting himself for any such examination for any reason which the autonomous school considers to be adequate;\n(c) shall demand and receive such fees as may be prescribed by the regulations;\n(d) shall fix centres for such examinations;\n(e) shall arrange for the assessment of attainments of pupils presenting themselves for examinations, as exhibit from their day to day records in the school of which they are pupils;\n(f) shall watch standards of craft and other vocational attainments in school;\n(g) shall evolve improved methods of assessment of attainments of candidates and carry out experiments in such methods; and\n(h) shall consider, moderate, determine and publish the results of examinations on the basis of which the Board shall award diplomas, certificate, prizes and scholarships in respect thereof.]",

            "title": "7. Committees of Courses.",

            "content": "(I) One person nominated by the Director, Secondary Education, Bihar.\n(II) One person nominated by the Director, State Council of Educational Research and Training Bihar.\n(III) Two Senior Principals/Teachers of Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools and Degree Colleges nominated by the Chairman of the Board.\n(IV) One person nominated by the Director, National Council of Educational Research and Training New Delhi.\n(a) to recommend to the State Government through the Board and the State Council of Educational Research and Training Bihar, the courses of study taught at the secondary stage in secondary schools or senior secondary schools in their respective subjects;\n(b) to give such instructions as may be prescribed to the \"Bihar State Text Book Publishing Corporation Ltd. Patna\" for the preparation of text books in accordance with the approved courses of study;\n(c) To recommend to the Director, Secondary Education, Bihar text books for secondary schools or senior secondary schools classes at the secondary stage, other than those published by the Bihar State Text Book Publishing Corporation Ltd. Patna;\n(d) To suggest improvements in the courses of study and methods of teaching classes at the secondary stage in high schools; and\n(e) to perform such other functions in consistent with the purposes of this Act as may from time to time by entrusted to it by the Director, Secondary Education, Bihar.]\n[7A. Appointment of Committee to inquire into working of the Board.\n(i) the working of the Board;\n(ii) the financial position of the Board;\n(iii) whether any change should be made in the provisions of the Act;\n(iv) such other matter as may be referred to it by the State Government.\n[8.
