        "title": "17. Powers and duties of Academic Council.",

        "content": "(i) to exercise control over the academic policies of the University and shall be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of standards of instruction, education and evaluation in the University;\n(ii) to consider matters of general academic interest either on its own initiative or on a reference form the Faculty of the University or the Board and to take appropriate action thereon;\n(iii) to recommend to the Board such Regulations as arc consistent with this Act regarding the academic functioning of the University including discipline of students; and\n(iv) to exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred or imposed upon it by the Regulations or by the Board.",
